The Colosseum was built almost 2,000 years ago and it still considered the largest amphitheater in the world. Its original purpose was to hold large crowds between 50-80 thousand for brutal gladiator showdowns. Today it is one of the most iconic landmarks in Europe and visited by millions every year.

The Pantheon was originally built not too long after the Colosseum as a temple dedicated to multiple Roman gods. For many years it was the largest freestanding dome in the world. Today it serves as a Roman Catholic church and remains one of the best preserved buildings due to its continuous use throughout history.
